| A Discipleship Soul group (DSG) is a small group of men or women led by a more spiritually mature individual. In our experience, this has been a group of students led by an adult connected to the college or university, either a professor or staff member or a spouse of one of these. The group meets weekly (or at another regular interval) for a designated period of time (i.e.- the school year, or even one semester). Although we encourage study of the Bible, the purpose of the group is to develop relationships between individuals for growth and accountability. There are times when a book study is appropriate. There are also times when sharing may take the entire meeting time, though this should not be the norm.
One thing to keep in mind when endeavoring to start a DSG is that students are almost always overcommitted. Working in conjunction with the college or university Student Development department is highly encouraged. In this way, involvement will be acknowledged as a valid and valuable time commitment. The student should not be involved in any other types of small groups or Bible studies while in a DSG. The true test of a student's commitment is that they will pursue the leader, not the other way around.
There are no DSGs functioning at this time.
